The Giro di KiKa is a multi-stage charity cycling event organized by the Dutch foundation Stichting Kinderen Kankervrij - KiKa, which every year raises very significant sums to be donated to research into childhood cancer.
The event combines a sporting challenge with a charitable cause and takes place mainly in the Dolomites and along the major climbs of the Italian Alps.
How the event is structured
The race’s classic format features a week of road cycling, with the opening stages usually winding through the most iconic passes of the Dolomites, and the final day, the Stelvio di Kika, in Alta Valtellina, starting from Bormio.
Participants can choose from 3 different routes, all equally iconic:
- Stelvio - with ascent and descent of the Stelvio Pass starting from Bormio
- Extrema - with the double ascent of the Stelvio Pass from both sides (from Bormio and from Prato allo Stelvio)
- Epico - with the climb to the 3 legendary Valtellina passes: Mortirolo, Gavia and Stelvio
