Deborah Compagnoni
Originally from S. Caterina Valfurva, Deborah Compagnoni was one of the most victorious alpine skiers in history, the first athlete to have won a gold medal in three different editions of the Winter Olympic Games in the history of alpine skiing.
Her achievements include, among others, 16 World Cup victories, 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the Olympics, 3 gold medals in the World Championships and 1 World Cup in giant slalom. She was the flag bearer for the Italian team during the opening ceremony of the XVII Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer 1994.
Giorgio Rocca
Originally from Livigno, Giorgio Rocca is a former Italian alpine skier specialized in slalom, winner of 11 World Cup races, 3 world medals and 1 World Cup in slalom. During the opening ceremony of the XX Winter Olympic Games in Turin 2006, he took the Olympic oath on behalf of all athletes participating in the Games.
Many of their sports memorabilia are currently on display in the exhibition Oro Bianco - A story of community sports at the Valfurva Visitor Center.
