August 24, 2026 9.00 - 11.00 pm - Bormio
Image

The garden of the Palazzo de Simoni will host a special evening that combines theater, history, and memory to pay tribute to one of the most iconic engineering works in the Alps.

The Stelvio Road, inaugurated in 1825 and designed by engineer Carlo Donegani, represents a masterpiece of civil engineering from the 19th century. Built in just five years, it connects Bormio to Spondigna through 88 hairpin turns and seven tunnels, reaching an altitude of 2,758 meters. This artery has played a crucial role in connecting Milan to Vienna without passing through Switzerland, becoming over time a symbol of connection between diverse cultures and a stage for significant historical and sporting events.

Starring in the evening will be Giacomo Occhi, a comic-poetic actor of Bormian origins.

Through a mix of storytelling, images, and suggestions, the show will revisit the challenges, sacrifices, and battles of those who made the Stelvio Road a symbol of determination and human ingenuity. An exciting journey that celebrates not only the architectural work but also the stories and cultures it has united over the course of two centuries.

An event not to be missed for everyone who wishes to immerse themselves in the history and emotions related to the Stelvio Road. An evening to rediscover, through the language of theater, the power of a work that continues to enchant and inspire.
