Founded in 2000 in Milan, on the initiative and under the direction of Elisabetta Sgarbi, La Milanesiana aims to cross different kinds of knowledge and arts, presenting to the general public the international excellences of the cultural and scientific world: Nobel laureates for literature and science, Oscar winners in cinema, and musicians who have received the highest international accolades. Over the years, the festival has increasingly extended its areas of intervention and, in addition to Milan, takes place in various cities in Italy, including, for the past ten years, in Bormio.
Every year, La Milanesiana tackles a theme that characterizes and permeates the entire edition. This year's theme is "Desire and the Law".
