A flowering balcony over Bormio, the "Magnificent Land," where you can discover more than 500 floral species!
The Alps are a precious treasure trove of biodiversity; this was well-known to Giovanni Fornaciari, a botany professor at the University of Pavia.
To spread knowledge and promote the conservation of this heritage, Fornaciari designed the "Rezia" botanical garden (inaugurated in 1982), of which he was also the first curator.
The garden covers an area of approximately 14,000 square meters and hosts 1,500 species, nearly 800 of which belong to the flora of the Park. It serves as a reference point for the reproduction of rare species, a source of scientific dissemination, an attraction for photography enthusiasts, and a valuable aid for schools.
It is advisable to visit starting from May, coinciding with the vegetative awakening of the species, subjected to the typically alpine climate.
During the summer opening, the Garden becomes a place to experience for tourists, nature lovers, families, or anyone simply wishing to spend a few hours in an enchanted place. The organized activities range from children's workshops to botanical and ethnobotanical themed workshops and interactive visits to musical events.
