The Valdisotto library, founded in 1978 and recently renovated, is located on the ground floor of the school building in Cepina. The facility features a cozy area dedicated to children, equipped with bean bags, sofas, and comfortable carpets.
The services and activities
With a collection of approximately 17,000 documents, all users from 0 to 99 years and beyond can meet their reading needs. A strong point, given the close connection with the school world and young readers, is the collection dedicated to children and teenagers; it offers wonderful quality books, useful for guiding the younger ones along their educational journey. On the shelves, you will find volumes from the bibliography linked to the Born to Read project (for ages 0 to 6); a rich selection of stories, essays, or graphic novels whose titles, drawn from the list proposed within the Xanadu project, aim to provide adolescents with a narrative path rich in stimuli and points for reflection; there will certainly be no shortage of Andersen award-winning titles, a stronghold of children's literature, and stories presented on the occasion of the SuperElle competition that involves primary school children. No less valuable is the collection dedicated to adults.
Although it is not a very large section, at the library, you can also borrow DVDs and audiobooks and, if you do not find what you are looking for, we will try to meet your requests by utilizing the highly efficient interlibrary loan.
The library, relying on the service offered by Lions Spoken Book, allows visually impaired, blind, and dyslexic individuals to access audiobooks available on the platform for free, so that no one is deprived of the pleasure of reading. Don't miss the MediaLibraryOnLine service, which will allow you to borrow eBooks or consult numerous newspapers.
In the library, you can participate in various initiatives related to the world of reading and culture; be sure to check the events section so you don’t miss any! The library also participates in Volunteers for Culture, a program for promoting cultural volunteering in the libraries and museums of the province of Sondrio.
The library is always closed on Sundays and on national holidays
