Planet Trek - Guide Alpine

Plamen Shopski was born in Pernik, Bulgaria, into a family already connected to the mountains: his father, a Mountain Guide, instilled in him from a young age a love for nature, taking him on trips and treks. This passion soon led him to dedicate himself to mountaineering and climbing.

His first ascents on the most challenging walls in Bulgaria quickly made him well-known in the rock climbing community, so much so that he was called up for military service in the Army Sports Club – C.S.K.A.. During this period, he achieved significant results: he graduated as the national champion in sport climbing and national champion in ski rally. For nine years, he was simultaneously part of the national teams for mountaineering, sport climbing, and ski mountaineering, achieving excellent results both nationally and internationally. With the mountaineering team, he participated in expeditions in the Caucasus, Pamir, Altai, and Himalayas.

After graduating from the National Sports Academy, where he qualified as a Mountain Guide and Ski Instructor, Plamen moved to Italy. Despite his qualifications not being initially recognized, he passed the pre-selection stages and successfully completed the Italian courses, becoming part of the Alpine Guides Group “Ortler – Cevedale” in Bormio, where he lives in Valfurva (Sondrio).

Passionate about all forms of mountain activity, he also specializes in Mountain Biking, expanding the possibilities for guiding on treks, ski mountaineering, and bike tours.

In collaboration with Planet Trek Travel – T.O., he has successfully led ascents on iconic mountains around the world, including:

• Elbrus (5,642 m), Caucasus – Russia

• Peak Lenin (7,134 m), Pamir

• Kilimanjaro (5,895 m), Africa

• Volcanoes of Ecuador

• Aconcagua (6,962 m), Argentina

• Alpamayo (5,947 m), Peru

He also guides treks and outdoor activities in Bulgaria (Rila and Pirin Mountains), Himalayas, Norway, Greece, Morocco, Iceland, Turkey, and Patagonia.

His mottos, “The adventure continues!” and “Travel and learn”, reflect the philosophy that guides each of his experiences: to enthusiastically share the passion for the mountains, the discovery of places, and the joy of adventure, always providing competence, safety, and professionalism.
