Born in Port-au-Prince in 2002 and adopted at the age of three by an Italian couple living in the French Alps, Richardson made history in 2022 as the first winter Olympic athlete from Haiti.
Today, at 24, he is preparing to compete again on the slopes of Milan-Cortina 2026. “Dreaming of snow in Haiti” is not just a sports biography, it is a reflection on identity and belonging. Richardson honestly recounts his journey in alpine skiing, the struggles, the accidents, and the rediscovery of a deep connection with his home country. Snow, a symbol of purity and freedom, becomes in these pages the bridge between the child who looked at a postcard in an orphanage, imagining distant places, and the man who has conquered those same worlds through determination and resilience.

The Authors

Richardson Viano was born in Haiti in 2002. At three years old, he was adopted by an Italian couple living in the French Alps. In 2019, he changed nationality to compete for Haiti, becoming the first winter Olympic athlete from the country at the Beijing 2022 Games.

Alessandro Corallo, for 31 years at Mediaset, intertwines television work, writing activities (7 published books), and social engagement. With the Anpil ETS association, he traveled between Paraguay and Haiti, a land that changed his life with the adoption of his son.

Alessandro Demarchi, an international cooperation operator with CISV ETS, lived for a long time in Haiti, developing a passion for the local language and cultural roots and building family ties. He is a co-founder of Haititalia APS.
